Giclée printing

Giclée printing is high quality system that guarantees you are getting the exact image desired. There are no deceiving colour tricks of tiny dots, only true mixed colour giving the prints a vibrantly sharp look.

The word ‘giclée’ is based on the French word ‘gicleur’ meaning ‘nozzle’ or ‘jet’, the verb form ‘gicler’ means ‘to squirt, spurt or spray’. So, the word giclée means to spray from a nozzle. It is now widely accepted around the world as the word to describe prints made on large format professional inkjet printers, from specific ranges manufactured by companies such as Epson, Canon and Hewlett Packard.

These printers are designed to operate with heavy weight papers and use the archival inks associated with giclée prints. The prints are made using lightfast pigmented inks to achieve a wide colour gamut, producing stunning photographic quality prints.

Our authentic giclée prints are made on specialist acid free pH neutral heavyweight fine art papers, at no less than 250gsm in weight. We use Epson Ultrachrome pigment inks, which today offer lightfast colours of over 100 years.

Delivering your prints

Our aim is to deliver your prints to you within 10 working days from receiving your order. All of our prints are made to order. They’re protected as much as possible in transit by rolling them, image inwards, then placing them into 3mm thick cardboard tubes.

We use Royal Mail Tracked 48 service, which also insures the package, but doesn't need to be signed for. Should your item be damaged in transit, then please do inform us immediately via email.

Framing / Stretching

We've taken the tough decision not to offer framing or stretching of canvases as part of our service. Our thinking is that framing in particular is a very personal thing, and that we wouldn't be able to offer a range of frames that would cover everyone's taste and style.

Indeed, prices for bespoke framing can vary significantly, or you may choose to buy 'off the shelf' from a local store - either way, it comes down to very specific personal choice and preference that we think you'd rather see in person before purchasing.

With regards to stretching canvases, we do have many contacts who can provide this service, so please contact us before ordering should you wish for this to be done.

All canvas prints are delivered with a 2" white border, ready to be stretched over 37mm stretcher bars. If you'd prefer a coloured border instead of white, please contact us to discuss this before you place your order.
